String trimmer repair in Hobart, Indiana.

Two-stroke headaches. Starts then dies, no power, head jammed.

A cleaned carburetor body held up to the light

A string trimmer is the machine people give up on first. It starts, runs for ten seconds, dies, and after three pulls of that it goes in the corner. The engine is fine. Almost every time it is fuel: old mix, a cracked fuel line sucking air, a primer bulb that has gone hard, or a carburetor diaphragm that has stiffened up.

We take the whole line of two-stroke trimmers and the four-stroke ones too. A no-start or a start-then-die gets a fuel system pass first: lines, filter, primer, carb. Then plug and compression. Most trimmers leave with a clean carb, fresh lines and fresh mix, running like a new one.

If the head is the problem, jammed, cracked or wound wrong, we fix or replace it and load it with the right line. Bring the trimmer as it sits. Do not buy a new one until we have looked at it.

Every machine gets an M6 tag when it comes in. Book a drop-off, or read how the three steps work.

What usually is wrong

  • Starts then dies: cracked fuel line, hard primer bulb or a stiff carb diaphragm
  • No power at full throttle: clogged exhaust screen or a lean carburetor
  • Will not start at all: stale mix, fouled plug or no compression
  • Head will not feed line: wrong line size, melted spool or a worn bump head
  • Runs rough and smokes: too much oil in the mix or a plugged air filter
  • Head spins at idle: clutch springs worn out

String trimmer questions

Is a trimmer worth repairing?

Usually. Most start-then-die problems are fuel lines, a primer bulb or a carburetor, and those are routine. We diagnose first and call you with the price so you can decide with a real number.

Why does it lose power after a few minutes?

Often a carbon-plugged exhaust screen or a lean carb. Both are quick to check on the bench. We tell you what it is before we fix it.

Do you fix the trimmer head too?

Yes. We repair or replace heads and load the right line. Bring it in or call or text (219) 781-3814 with the make and model.
